Mini Implants
Mini implants are generally used to help secure partial and full dentures. Often your existing denture can be adjusted to fit the new implants.
Mini implants consist of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and an O-ring that is incorporated into the base of your denture. i.e. a female attachment in your denture clips over a male attachment in your gum. This makes your denture much more stable and stops it coming out at embarrassing times.
As they are so small, they are placed very gently and so cause very little discomfort. They are regularly placed in people of advanced age as they are so gently placed. They usually require very little if no surgery and there is normally no need for sutures.
Mini implants can function as long-term supporting structures. In fact, some have been successfully functioning in patients' jaws for several decades.
The most effective use of this unique dental product is securing a lower denture. There are millions of people worldwide who lack teeth and who struggle daily with loose teeth.
Mini dental implants are placed in a painless procedure and require only a mild local anesthetic. The mini dental implants, which are placed about 5mm apart. Your denture is then carefully adjusted to allow it to snap onto the four mini implants. This results in a tighter-fitting, completely reliable denture, that allows you to speak and eat with confidence.
The mini dental implants are placed in about an hour. Because of the unique, minimally invasive procedure, the minute size of the implants, and where they are placed, the typical mini dental implant patient can enjoy a light meal an hour or so after having the mini implants placed. When you have had your denture stabilized with mini implants, it won't take long to get used to removing and replacing your tighter fitting denure.
Occasionally mini implants can be placed in patients who are too young for conventional single tooth implants, as a temporary measure.
