Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening

Tooth whitening is becoming a more and more popular procedure. It helps to lighten the colour of your teeth in a safe, effective way, without causing any damage. We have seen many clients who have come in asking for veneers (which can be quite destructive), who instead have had tooth whitening or a combination of orthodontics and tooth whitening, and they are thrilled with the results. At myFACE, we will be able to advise you on the most effective way to brighten your smile, without damaging tooth tissue.

We offer two different systems of tooth whitening to suit all our patient’s needs, including White Dental Beauty whitening systems and Enlighten Whitening.

Enlighten tooth whitening is the world’s best performing teeth-whitening treatment. Moulds are made of your teeth and you complete the treatment at home, with additional in surgery whitening if required. Enlighten differs from our other whitening systems, because it will guarantee Vita shade guide B1 for every patient. This is the lightest shade available on our natural shade guide.

Our White Dental Beauty system is the more traditional treatment where you have moulds made of your teeth and you complete the treatment at home. This is similar to Enlighten whitening but they do not guarantee you will reach Vita shade guide B1.

Tooth whitening is a simple yet effective procedure that can improve a smile and boost self-confidence.

We offer free of charge consultations for tooth whitening where we will assess your treatment needs, go through the treatment with you in more detail and give you a full treatment plan including cost estimate.

How does it work?

  1. We will take an impression of your teeth so that flexible tooth whitening trays can be made. These look similar to mouth guards.

  2. Approximately two weeks later the dentist will fit your trays and demonstrate how to use the whitening. We would normally take photos and a shade at this appointment so you can see the difference in a couple of weeks.

  3. The whitening works by breaking down molecules in the dentine and enamel and replacing them with oxygen which gives you lighter, whiter teeth.

  4. Depending on which tooth whitening option you have gone for, you will either need to whiten for one hour a day or during the night. Most people tend to find it easier to wear the trays at night, as it has less of an interruption on your day-to-day life.

  5. We will then book a review appointment 2-3 weeks later to check on your progress and review your results.

  6. If you have Enlighten whitening, you may need additional in surgery whitening to achieve Vita shade guide B1.

How long does it last?

Tooth whitening results can last years, but it is all dependent of lifestyle including what you eat and drink. If you attend regular check-up appointments with us and are considered dentally fit, it is easy to purchase more whitening gel and top up.

Possible side effects

As with any treatment, there can be some side effects. The most common side effect is sensitivity. Most of our clients only experience mild sensitivity. If this happens you can use a sensitive toothpaste during your whitening treatment, or even put the sensitive toothpaste into the trays and wear them for a while in between whitening. Enlighten whitening provide de-sensitising swabs you can use during treatment.

Our tooth whitening fees start from £247.00.
