Why do we need regular dental visits

Why do we need regular dental visits?

By Nicole, Jul 29 2022

It is advised that we visit the dentist on average every 6 months. There are two parts to a routine dental visit, which include a check-up with the dentist and an appointment with the hygienist.

At your appointment your teeth and gums will not only be examined, but you will be checked for oral cancers along with an examination of your head, neck, and lymph nodes. We all know how important it can be for an early diagnosis.

Attending regularly, we can help to prevent dental problems by examining teeth for tooth decay and taking routine x-rays, which will allow us to see problems under the surface. This allows for intervention and restorative treatment to prevent further problems. It also means when treatment is required, it is likely a smaller restoration and will reduce the need for more invasive treatment in the future.

Attending your hygienist appointment regularly can help to prevent or stabilise gum disease which will improve your overall oral health. You can guarantee that you will also remember to start using that floss again! We all need a reminder every now and again, we are only human after all.

If you are a member of our dental plan you are entitled to two check-ups with the dentist and two visits with the hygienist, among other benefits. If you are over-due, contact the practice on 01242 570404 or reception@myface.uk.com to arrange your appointment.
